Design and Verification of On-Chip Impedance-Matching Circuit Using Transmission-Line Theory for 2.4 GHz-Band Wireless Receiver Front-End

چکیده
Recently, spiral inductors have widely been used instead of resistors in the design of matching circuits to enhance the thermal noise performance of a wireless transceiver. However, such elements usually have low quality factor (Q) and may encounter the self-resonance in microwave-frequency band which permits its use in higher frequencies, and on the other hand, they occupy the large on-chip space. This paper presents a new design theory for the impedance-matching circuits for a single-chip SiGe BiCMOS receiver front-end for 2.4 GHz-band wireless LAN (IEEE 802.11b). The presented matching circuits are composed of conductor-backed coplanar waveguide (CPW) meander-line resonators and impedance (K) inverter. The prototype front-end receiver is designed, fabricated and tested. A few of the measured results to verify the design theory are presented. key words: CPW line, impedance-matching circuit, 2.4 GHz-band wireless LAN, λ /4 resonator, transmission-line theory

متن کاملApplications of On-Chip Coplanar Waveguides to Design Local Oscillators for Wireless Communications System
On-chip distributed transmission line resonators in CMOS technology have become the interest of research subjects recently (Ono et al. 2001; Umeda et al., 1994; Kanaya et al., 2006; Wolf, 2006) because of their size which becomes more compact, as the frequency of application increases. Among the various transmission lines, coplanar waveguide (CPW) has more engineering applications (Toyoda, 1996...
متن کاملDesign of a Two Octave Gysel Power-Divider Using DGS and DMS
This paper proposes a two way L and S band Gysel power divider/combiner that uses line to ground resistors. Step by step methods to obtain a wide isolation and transmission bandwidth are presented. A design that uses five resistors is selected and optimized based on Quasi Newton method. Then the Defected Microstrip Structure (DMS) and Defected Ground Structure (DGS) is used to obtain better tra...
متن کاملToward Realization of 2.4 GHz Balunless Narrowband Receiver Front-End for Short Range Wireless Applications
The demand for radio frequency (RF) transceivers operating at 2.4 GHz band has attracted considerable research interest due to the advancement in short range wireless technologies. The performance of RF transceivers depends heavily on the transmitter and receiver front-ends. The receiver front-end is comprised of a low-noise amplifier (LNA) and a downconversion mixer. There are very few designs...
متن کاملA Novel Compact Dual Notch Band Filter Based on Metamaterial Concept
Using composite right-left handed (CRLH) transmission line concept, a novel miniaturized dual notch band filter (DNBF) is proposed. The suggested DNBF consists of an interdigital transmission line (ITL), split ring resonators (SRRs) and complementary split ring resonators (CSRRs). Since the resonance frequency of the SRRs and CSRRs are quite independent of each other, the dual notch bands of th...
